Here’s the description of the film from its PIPFF premiere:
What? I Married a Pastor?
The title sounds cute, but the content is serious. Craig Bartlett, the husband who studied theology in Canada but has been working as an English teacher in Korea, suddenly embarks on pastoral activities. KIM Youngoak, the wife and the director of this documentary, begins an unexpected new life of as a “pastor’s wife.” Moreover, the husband is engaged in pastoral activities for the socially disadvantaged, or sexual minorities to be exact. As a foreigner with limited proficiency of Korean and as a married heterosexual pastor, he often faces challenges in working for them. But Pastor Bartlett sees this as his calling. Notably, this documentary focuses more on the inner journey that the wife experiences than on a religious man’s mission and ministry. The wife is also going through life changes coming from his decision, having her share of joys and sorrows. And this is where the question comes in. What would you do if your partner suddenly decides to change the course of his/her life for self-realization? There is no easy answer to this question, but the director chose to “support” the decision.
