On Palm Sunday, our regular gathering around the Lord’s Word and Table takes a different shape as we commemorate Jesus’s entry into Jerusalem under the looming shadow of the cross. The service begins outside the church (weather permitting), and once inside it features an extended reading of the gospel account of Jesus’s final hours as the church’s lights are gradually extinguished until we are left sitting in the darkness in prayerful silence.
The service is an inclusive and healing blend of ancient and modern spiritual practices, and all are welcome, regardless of age, race, religion, capability, sexual identity, or immigration status.
After the service, everyone is welcome to share in a light evening meal together. During this season of Lent, it is a simple meal of soup and bread, but the conversation is as hearty as ever.
